Accessibility statement

Since June 2025 EU Directive 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act) applies. This website is built to WCAG 2.1 level AA.

Compliance status

By our own assessment this website is largely compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. An external conformity assessment is planned before go-live; until then this statement rests on a self-assessment.

Measures implemented

  • Structure: a consistent heading hierarchy, semantic landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and a skip link to the content.
  • Keyboard operation: every interactive element is reachable by keyboard and the focus indicator is clearly visible at all times.
  • Contrast: text and control colours meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text).
  • Motion: animations are restrained and switch off completely when the system setting “reduce motion” is active.
  • Graphics: informative graphics have text alternatives; the karst section drawing carries an additional long description. Purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
  • Zoom and reflow: the page remains usable up to 200 % zoom and down to 320 px width without horizontal scrolling.
  • Language: the page language is declared; passages in other languages are marked individually.
  • Without JavaScript: all content works with JavaScript disabled. Contact runs through an ordinary email link, not through a script.

Known limitations

  • The technical “karst section” drawing conveys complex relationships. The text description summarises them but does not reproduce every detail of the drawing.
  • Third-party content added later (such as PDF documents) has not yet been assessed. PDFs will only be published once they are tagged for accessibility.
